I got a call this morning, as I was getting ready to go give a talk at church, that my good friend from college, Natalie Walker Garritson, had had a sudden heart attack and had passed away. I was shocked. She's only 37, she's got 3 young boys, 9, 7, and almost 3. I cried and cried-I'm so sad for them.
Natalie was fantastic. If you had a problem she was there. I think she put more hours in listening to all of us friends combined than any of us. She used to read us story books at night. We'd always tease her that she was the mom of the apartment because she would take care of all of us.
I'm sad she's gone. I know we'll see her again, but I'm sad for the now. And I wish I had gone to visit her lately. You know, you just get busy, thinking I'll see her soon, we'll do something...etc...I wish I had. The last time we all got together (our friends from college) we went out to eat and after went shopping at Kohl's. It was lots of fun and as usual Natalie was hilarious and loving and excellent to be around. God bless her and all in her life.
